it seems like the Avs could help with the Marleau sitch and some rumblings they may be in the mix but I just don't see the benefit enough when they are giving up Kerfoot. Kerfoot for Marleau, Johnsson or Kapanen and a pick, Its 40 point player in Kerfoot for 40 point players in Johnsson or Kap while taking on the Marleau contract. If they build a deal in this framework I think the net benefit for taking on Marleau would be more than 3rd/4th round pick bc really Kerfoot fort Johnsson/Kap are just lateral moves for either team

The Avs trade is interesting, Larsson isn’t very good at all, and I have no clue why the leafs would want Bortuzzo.

What about Marleau, Johnsson, 2nd round pick and G prospect for Kerfoot? G prospect, 2nd is value for taking Marleau and Johnsson for Kerfoot straight up.

Larsson doesnt hold as much value as many people realize. Likely more from Leafs tho.

Bortuzzo I personally like because we could just sign a depth guy for like a mil. guy like Girardi or Lovejoy but Bortuzzo can skate nicely and make plays which is rarity in his position.

Thats more of the type of trade I could see, what is that sweeter. I think they would want to go for Kapanen over Johnsson. If Avs are in the mix I dont think Marleau will play for them and this is just a straight paper transition to get what they want such as Kapanen. I would assume they try to buy him out just like they did last year with Orpik to get Grubauer.

Johnsson or Kapanen, it doesnt matter. I can see both in that deal. Take your pick on who. Leafs management would likely trade Johnsson before Kappy. Maybe they do that but even if he plays with a guy like Jost and help him along the way. They might do anything with him they want and thats why I like the Avs-Leafs trade idea the most.

I think they have the assets to get it done even if they dont buy out Marleau, they can stick him on the 3rd line in the same role as Colin Wilson was and just hope he doest run out of gas
