I couldn't agree more. AZ upgrading their left side? They already have OEL and Chych sitting there lol

I don't think the Subban trade is all that far off from what they would be looking for EXCEPT Hornqvist likely doesn't waive and he isn't the one GMJR wants to move

Murray would be fired if he proposed such a trade to Ducks ownership - which he would never propose. Mortgaging their future for a few years of Phil makes no sense. The Ducks are flush with young offensive forwards and they just need to let them come in play, not take up another roster spot. Not to mention the Ducks already have Perry, Silfy, Kase, and Rakell all capable of playing the right side in their top 6

After Nelson just signed 6x6 all of the free agent cap hits seem low

So you say dumb things on here as well as hockeybuzz? What a shock. You're like a message board stalker.

Kessel & Jarry for: A decent but rather injury prone player, a good (but not great) prospect, and #9OA. Possible. Helps with the cap situation.#9OA is nice.

Johnson ($500K retained) & #9OA for:#19OA. Hard no. Even without retention going from 9 to 19 is too much. Johnson & 5th for a 7th would be enough.

Hornqvist, Schultz and #19OA for: Subban. Not as is. Those three assets are too much for Subban straight. Subban's $9M salary would either require retention (which Nashville can't do) or replacing the 1st from Pittsburgh with a different pick, maybe a 3rd.

Maatta for: Oesterle & 3rd. Okay. Not sure about Arizona doing it though.

Rust for: Pitlick & 4th. No. No reason to move Rust and Rust is considerable better than Pitlick.

I'll last to first...

- The Rust move is more for cap space than anything while getting a solid 4th line winger in the process.

- AZ may consider this. While I stated he'd be a top four upgrade I realize he would be more of loading up at LD and if they can afford it, why not?

- I think the NSH trade is fair all around. Hornqvist can obviously still be useful, but is not a great contract. Schultz is only a one-year player for them, so there needs to be some sort of concession.

- Any move including Johnson that doesn't have a problem contract coming back the other way requires quite a bit of incentive. Ok, maybe not a first, but definitely for higher pics than you're describing. I've toyed with including ZAR and retention, but it's hard to gauge what it will take.

- The Kessel move is also more of a space clearer for some decent young players and a 1st.

Johnson at $3.25M simply isn't bad enough to pay much to move out. It's below the average cap amount. People seem to react to it like it is Lucic at $6M. It might be the worst contract on the Pens, but league wide it's, honestly, it probably doesn't break the top 20. (But whenever you get into top 10 lists or top 100 (Malkin) or whatever, it gets sticky)
