I don’t think he would, but this is what I would give up. Too much or too little?

Phil was not happy about his time in Boston (or how he was treated on the way out), he's not coming back lol

That was 10 years ago. Claude julien and Peter chiarelli are gone.

+- is really a useless stat to evaluate players. Boston’s defense and goaltending is light years ahead of Pittsburgh’s. They wouldn’t be getting Kessel to improve their defense

It is overrated. It isn’t useless. Phil scores but there’s just something off about his game

Yeah he’s not a defensive player, we all know that. But boston has plenty of those, and he’d be a great fix for the 2RW carousel. He could score 35 with Krejci.

He’s a power play guy. That’s where he gets his points. You want him to replace pasta? Me neither

He’s good on the power play, put him on PP2 and they’d have great power play depth. But Kessel at 2RW would still be better than anyone they’ve had there in the past few years (not counting when they drop pasta down)

IF it involves giving up grizz? I’d rather have heinen on the second line than Phil.

Hey J,
I say pass on acquiring Phil. Yeah he can score but the SS Bruins ship has sailed.
I think it's more important for now as follows: a) keep Frederic, Grzelcyk and the 1st; b) re-sign a cheaper/younger M. Johansson maybe; and c) try the kids in the slot you have for Phil (Studnicka, Senyshyn or Steen)?

So you’d rather have Heinen on line 2 and keep grzelyck than have kessel without gryz? That’s fair, I understand that

His issue was more than CJ/PC. He wasn't happy about the way the Bruins organization handled his cancer and lets not forget how hard he was ridden by fans every time he came back (entire fanbase mocking him with "thank you Kessel" chants. At the end of the day, Bostons system hasn't changed. They demand guys play a 200ft game, even guys like Pasta (whose gotten better year over year). Phil isn't going to change his game at this point.

Thornton, Kessel, Seguin, Lucic...they are not returning lol.

You’re right I forgot about the fans lol.

Also I disagree with lucic, him not returning is because e really sucks at hockey now. They didn’t trade him because his game isn’t what they wanted

I wouldn't say he sucks, but he's not worth the contract he has. I listed him because he's another player that I've seen some Bruins fans want to bring back and he's just a guy that isn't coming back.

Milan Lucic is my favorite Bruin of all time. I would only bring him back if it was a 1 day retirement contract ?
