even with staal contract this would be a steal... imo they can just buy him out.

Can’t imagine Devils would ever come close to this. If there were a viable alternative or counter-offer, I could see something like this:

(1) Devils trade d-man and 2nd rounder for lesser/cheaper d-man and mid-1st rounder.

(2) Send the mid-1st rounder and Hall to NYR. In return, NYR sends 2nd overall plus lesser/cheaper Winger.
