Yup. But if he comes back strong next season and is like 80-90pt player (which he might), then it would be fair deal but I highly doubt Oilers would trade Bouchard and 1st round pick in top-10 in one deal.

That EDM trade is minor...we are dealing with another " Marleau to SJS cause they dont have cap troubles on their own......

Well, that’s a bit nuts. How did we get to 80-90 points? How much crap would you give me if I came here saying “what if Heinen comes back as a point per game player, which he could.”

Cmon

If he “might” be an 80-90 point player then why would the leafs trade him? Also my opinion on the trade may be a little skewed because imo Bouchard is untouchable

Also if the oilers trade their first and Bouchard in the same deal then they would be looking for a kings ransom. William Nylander alone doesn’t come close

My opinion of Nylander's TRADE value is low. A 7m AAV without the Leafs taking any money back, There are other teams who need who have to dump some NHLer due to cap reasons, so the Leafs are competing in a crowded market. Nylanders's value certainly isn't two first rounders now. Think the the Leafs would be out of necessity would be happy with two second rounders in return.

Nylander will probably bounce back, but as of right now I doubt he gets a first right now, let alone a top ten pick, let alone a top ten pick and a former top ten pick.

Guess I'm a noob....But realistically the Leafs need to shed 6.75m. this summer. And I haven't seen many practical posts where Nylander isn't the guy traded.

Heinen is not as good as Nylander although he can be 60pt player, he did not have 60+pt back to back seasons in his first two pro years.. Nylander was just a bit under Marner before this year and then Marner was put on a line with one of the best two way centermen and scorers in the league and suddenly became 90pt player (Marner had suddenly 30% point raise), Nylander would be like 80-85pt player with Tavares easily. He is that good. He was playing on third line and was out of condition (it was his mistake after all). Nylander had like 25 points in last 35 games which was awesome depsite playing third line minutes.. So.. Nylander can be 80-90pt player if he plays with another great sniper at C like Matthews which he would. I dont think he is as good as Marner is but he is point per game player.. and just barely 23yrs old and he will get better.

Leafs would not trade him. Im trying to say that for long time. Price for him would be high for other teams and I believe Dubas would not trade William Nylander during his tenure as GM.

There are lesser parts that can be moved to provide this financial relief. Nylander is not one imo.

Okay I skimmed your post because I started rolling my eyes about how easily nylander would put up 85 points with a different center. Cmon. It’s gross. Ya sure maybe he bounces back, but man, he looked like such garbage at times year.

Point of order. I never said Heinen was as good as nylander. I also never said Heinen was going to put up 90 points. Heinen being a point per game is about as absurd a leap as nylander being a 90 point guy.

I question the wishful thinking of "can be moved" in so many of the trades. Yep it's possible but then the Leafs are weaker at four positions instead of just one....all that so golden boy doesn't get traded.

Damn...sry mate....forgot you are in that camp too...no harm ment toward you, i hold you as exception there.....

latest two i think are looking good :

https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1169209

https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1155700

Both are weak on defence still, but as i said before 2019/2020 with Marleau on payroll is another season to suck it and focus in sign them youngsters, plenty of $$ at disposal after that Season to build the D....

I nagged about JVR <--> Manson ( TDL 2018 ) and Pesce <--> Kadri ( TDL 2019 ) many times before, wont go after the whole curse again....

Well, it's just opinion. I'm a good natured Leaf fan as you are and so most folks on this site. Without different thoughts, this site wouldn't exist and there would be no FANatics. Let's hope all this cap situation is solved by October 1st, and I don't mean Marner, Kapanen, and Johnsson remain unsigned.
