Slavin probably the best Defensive Defenseman in the league who has a long term value contract oh and by the way pulls out even more value with the need of defenseman in the league which makes him worth more because of his position. for a not really needed position on the wing which doesn't boost his value, 2nd just came off a injury that kept him out for most of the season, that's another reason his value drops, and 3 he is on a rental contract which drops his value by half because a rental 1-year deal guy is not as valuable because he is a UFA as let's say a guy like Marner who you can sign to an extension, so what you said is pretty much invalid.
