Avs have 16 and 21 OA, they’re young core is pretty much set. Mack, Landeskog, Rantanen, Jost, Etc... + Barrie, Makar, Timmins, Johnson. They don’t need another A+ prospect. Instead they can get Phil who will step right in and get 80+ points next few years. Bjugstad who fills 2nd or 3rd line Center or wing spot and Jarry to backup and potentially take over. This team should be going all in now. If I were them I would draft Spencer Knight with one of their 1sts and get that franchise goalie, which is basically the only thing this team doesn’t have. Avs would be a powerhouse. Pens get Bowen Bryram to become their next #1 D and cap relief to make moves in FA. Win-win for both teams. Not in love with Zadorov, similar player to Johnson. Might make Malkin happy having another Russian on the team.

Skinner leaves term on table and signs 9M per to finish off the Pens championship window. In three years Skinner, Malkin and Letang are all UFA. Pens need to go all in next couple years to make most of this window. They do that but still have a few pieces for the future.

Brandon Pirri will be a steal to whoever signs him. MASSIVELY underused last couple years.

McCann can’t carry his own line but playing with Tanev and Rust they are probably one of, if not the fastest lines in the NHL.

Cap works. Schultz is gone next year. Bryram and Addison move up to NHL. Murray and McCann get raises. With annual cap increase they would be fine.

"playoffs" reading is hard.... and kessel is maybe 15-20 best wingers in the nhl. his value isnt that great but hey keep drinking the kooool Ade hahah sheep

99 more pts regular season > .06 higher ppg in playoffs LOOL. His value is probably pretty great too... what you and others on this forum think he's worth vs what he's ACTUALLY worth in real life is monumentally different bud.

96 5v5 points vs 69 5v5 points........so kessel has 27 more 5v5 points haha

okay

kessel 164 games .....96 5v5 points (.58 even strength ppg)......-23.......22 hits..........59 takeaways 138 giveaways (-79 turn over ratio)

wilson 141 games.......69 5v5 points (.48 even strength ppg) ....... +21.....450 hits......73 takes aways...88 giveaways ( -15 turn over ratio)

yeah kessel numbers 5v5 are average and his defensive numbers suck so keep chirping about his inflated number due to power play numbers he has 174 points 78 were on the power play bc hes basically useless unless they have one. haha KeSsEl HaS sO mUcH tO aDd. points aren't the only thing that matters bro hate to break it to you....but again small minded people struggle to see past that... on top of the hes on a penguins power play with Sid gene tanger....few tema have that supporting cast

Lol do you work for an advanced analytics company? dude you're sick! kessel put up number playing with certified GARBAGE on Toronto... would good ol Tom Wilson do the same? No chance.
And a lot of teams have incredible powerplays.. ovi backstrom carlson....? BuT iM cLoSe MiNdEd..
also 315 penalty minutes and how many suspensions vs how many...? hm? Thought so tears of joy
i love how people think PP points/goals aren't as credible as even strength, don't want kessel to punish you on the PP? dont take penalties.. hell you'd know that from PP goal scoring expert Ovi and the lover of PP assists John Carlson!

true but ovechkin scores 50 goals a year kessel hasnt broke 40 in his career. ovi defensive numbers are also terrible but he can at least hit and he now blocks shots. kessel only value is his power play specialties

the point is that kessel is an average to slightly above average player 5v5..... hes may score 96 points but he allowed 120 points against....guys like him aren't hard to recreate. hes 31 years old and isnt getting better. example crosby is 31? and hes constantly getting better. Phil went 25 games without a 5v5 goal? thats awful.

tom wilson is considered an average scorer and hes .1 5v5 points less than kessel 5v5...thats not great. wilson value is that hes a far better 2 way player than most nhl guys. my stats are from the last 2 seasons which are career years for kessel hahah hes playing with malkin not trash

I’ll settle this...

Phil Kessel and Tom Wilson are BOTH elite at what they do. Phil is an elite scorer and elite PP specialist. Tom Wilson is a unicorn throwback player who can hit and fight like the best enforcers but also play in your top 6. Both players played big parts in their teams championship runs. Phil at 31 has pretty damn good trade value but he is older so it’s not going to blow anyone out of the water. It needs to be a deal with a similar type of player in similar situation. Like Subban or Zucker. I’m a die hard Pens fan and I’m thankful for Kessels time in Pitt but it’s time for him to go. Honestly, defensively he is such a liability and his offence IMO doesn’t make up for how costly other parts of his game are. Not to mention he literally avoids contact at all costs. If he isn’t scoring, he isn’t doing anything. That being said if he goes to a team like Nashville, who needs scoring and PP help, he would fit perfectly and be an absolute steal at 6.8M because they are a good defensive team and could compensate for his deficiencies while he scores 80-100 points a year as THE go to guy on offense. Kessel is elite at what he does best and that’s fine. And honestly as much as I hate to admit it I absolutely love Tom Wilson and would kill to have him on my team. He is truly one of a kind in the NHL and is worth every penny on that contract especially now that he is scoring. Wilson also hurts his team as he takes a lot of penalties and gets suspended. But you can’t compare the two because they are literally polar opposites. Both are elite at what they do best. Both have great trade value. Both have deficiencies in their games.

adjusting for PP goals scored throughout Kessel vs Ovi, Ovi averages 10 more goals a year than Phil.. so ur saying 10 more goals = best goal scorer of all time vs Phil who you say is "average"..? that doesn't add up bud. add in that Ovi plays a full 2 minutes more per game than Kessel throughout their respective careers and that number shrinks even more.. not much of an argument there bro.
AAAAALSO.. do you realize who Kessel played with in toronto....? Give him a player HALF as good as Backstrom (whos criminally underrated) and those numbers shrink EVEN more!

Listen, i get u.. kessel at 31 his trade value isn't extremely high, but 99% of teams would gladly welcome him with open arms. Christ he had a "down year" and had 20+ goals and a PPG..
