This is what I was thinking but its gotta be sweeter than this. I think its our 2020 first, Vats and a lesser prospect. I would be ok with the first in 20. If we have him I don't see us at the bottom again this yr.

It's going to take a lot more than Vatanen a 2nd and a 3rd for the rights to Trouba.

As @stpilots98 said, it will take more (equal IMO) for merely the rights. If you want long-term, you will need to give more like the aforementioned 1st. I would rather have severson back instead of Vatanen.
My proposition is Trouba (long-term) for Severson, 1st, and a prospect.

Either way, doubt Trouba signs in NJ.

I don't think Shero gives Severson, maybe adds a conditional pick if Vats does not sign or something like this.

It will take more than a first and Vatanen. Severson a 1, 3 and a middle prospect seems fair.

Definitely not. You don’t get top pairing defencmen for cheap and you don’t get top 4 potential guys with them for sure. After the graduations this year, he, gawanke, and Chisholm are our top prospects in that order
