im not doing that, retaining money on dekeyser and adding lucic so its like paying lucic 7.5 million for 4 more years to turn our early 2nd into a mid 1st. Please no dont. If we had some real dmen and dekeyser was on the second pair where he belonged he wouldn't look so bad.

Broberg has every chance to be just as good a Dman as Zadina does a winger. This team needs D. End of story. 12 Zadina's don't mean sh*t without Dmen.

That's true, obviously. I would rather not give up Zadina, but I would also love if Stevie somehow gets another 1st to draft Broberg. This draft could set us up for years to come. As long as the trade doesn't involve Mantha, AA or this year's 1st, I would be listening.

Lucic has a NMC which means he has to be protected. So who are you going to leave unprotected because you have to protect a cap dump?

But unless another team picks him up he's still in Detroits system and has to be protected.

I think with zadina and if velano is as good as we all want him to be plus adding maybe Turcotte or cozen this draft to go with larkin AA mantha and bertuzzi we have not elite talent but depth. Maybe enough to compete. I dont want to move pieces out. I agree we need to do something on the blue line but id rather buy myers this offseason and let the forwards develop and see what we have.

Idk if that's totally true, but he could still choose to waive it. He may be motivated to anyway knowing that he will sit in GR if he doesn't.

Myers will be way too expensive and not nearly young enough (30 next year). Yzerman will not be doing that. I am hoping Yzerman realizes that D wins championships and builds the D like he did in Tampa - with aggressive trades and good contracts. This is that. I am fine with the giving up Zadina criticism haha.

A player with a NMC can't be waived without his approval. The expansion rules state that any player with a current and ongoing no-movement clause in their contract after the season leading up to the expansion draft must be kept in one of those nine or 11 protected slots.

Lucic full contract (4 years left @ $6M cap hit) plus he has a NMC that he's not going to waive and retaining DeKeyser cap hit of $1.5M for another 3 years would eat $7.5M for 3 seasons plus giving up a serviceable 3rd line center and the return is swapping draft picks from #35 to #8?

You do realize that DeKeyser and Lucic had about the same amount of points and goals last year right?

You're right in the sense that he probably does not waive to go to the AHL but did you just insinuate that there's no difference between 35 and 8 lol. Did you also just refer to Glendening as a serviceable 3C lol.

laugh laugh So Detroit retains $1.5M on Danny DeKeyser whom makes 3 x 5 and yet takes on Lucic's full deal for 4 x 6 How does that make sense? Right now DDK is a better value then Milan Lucic. Yeah Detroit gets the Oiler #8 pick in the deal. And Holland isn't that stupid to surrender it in the first place.

With a full NMC, Lucic can veto any trade—that is why if you look at Capfriendly’s player page it show the contract reverting to a MNTC in the final 2 years. So no I am talking about needing the players okay to be moved. Which he won’t give.
The number 35 for the number 8 for 2 roster players (one being a top pairing dman), a 2nd draft pick, and 7.5M for 3 years. That’s what I am laughing at. Ownership alone would veto it.
Yes Glendening can play center (in addition to the wing) and isn’t an offensive juggernaut so I would rate him as a serviceable 3rd line center.
