What about Korpisalo? I see you signed him but were is he on the roster?

I have him in the minors. I can’t see Columbus starting the season with just Korpisalo and Merzlikins. They will probably want more security. What do you think they will do?

Okay. The only reason you hung in Varlamov and skinner is because Duchene is coming back and you can use those 2 to somewhat replace Panarin and Bobrovsky, other wise they can go and we go with a very young team, suck and hopefully end up with Lafantaine and the 1st overall pick. Most of this is very good. Except the 5 years for Werenski. Either 3 at 5 or go 6.5 for 7-8. 5 means he’s a UFA as soon as the contract is over. You’d also be giving Korpisalo away if you send him to the AHL as he would go through waivers so trade him for something. I don’t think Murray will that that big of a return and you’ll get more for Wennberg. Wennberg isn’t a cap dump yet, another bad year and he might be but only being 24 there’s time to turn it around.

Just looked up his stats. Didn't realize how bad he's been since his rookie year. That being said, I'd put Karpisalo as the backup and Merzlikins in the minors for the first month or so, and then see how it goes from there.

Do you think the Lightning will look a lot different next year or do you think they go for it again with the same group. I know they’ll have to make at least one move because of Point’s new contract.

Honestly I think Wennberg has positive value, not negative value. He got demoted under Torts and emergence of Dubois.
He has good speed, reads the play well, plays well defensively and on the P.K.
if he pairs with 2 skilled wingers, he will put up 50 assists no problem. He just doesn’t look to shoot the puck like he needs to.
He should get a decent pick or two in return by himself.

What do you think about the goalie situation? Assuming Bobrovsky leaves, do you see them going with Merzlikins & Korpisalo to begin the season or will they sign a more experienced goaltender and put one in the minors?

They’ll go with those two. Wouldn’t make sense to burn cap on a vet goalie just to ride the pine behind Elvis. Also, Wennberg isn’t a burden like other cap dumps. He has a lot of value if he gets moved.
