If they want to not pay Trouba 7+M but keep Morrissey, Chiarot, and Niku for about the same dollar amount as just Trouba... It makes sense.

IMO, Ehlers is kind of underperforming for 6M AAV. Sam Reinhart in Buffalo had similar numbers at half the price. Maybe they move it? Who knows.

I agree that you would like more for 6 million, but he has produced in the past. I suspect reinharts agent had him sign that horrid bridge because hes fully expecting to get him 7.5 next summer. I really hope there was an offer on the table for reinhart at 6 or a bit more- and his agent is the one who laughed it off. It expect that to get ugly. Hard to compare the 2 contracts because of that.

He missed time from injury this season but he was on pace for 27 goals which is pretty close to what he's put up in the past, yes his point total would've been less this season compared to past seasons but he's usually on a line that clearly does not work but the coach won't give up on it. Ehlers has no control over that, imo the Jets would be making a massive mistake if they traded him, he'll rebound and as the next round of contracts get doled out this summer his deal is gonna look better and better.
