OEL will not be traded. Even if Gardner comes back. They need OEL. But that's what it would cost.

agreed... however, if Arizona's cash strapped ownership is blinded by the potential marketing possibilities of a 1st overall pick homeboy, they may make a business decision vs. a hockey decision. Peter Pocklington did it. Lou is a shark, he smells blood and desperation. smile

No way Arizona makes that deal. It would be the worst deal in the history of professional sports!!

Washington doesn't need more centres so therefore don't need Bozak. Why would the Kings give up any picks for those two guys, who may not even be offered contracts by the Leafs? Has Subban showed he is any better than other Leafs goalie prospects? Like the Isles deal if I was a Leaf.

Uuuggh i know your being lighted hearted with your Matthews trade proposal DAVleaf but I've seen too many of these "Matthews for all your best assets" trades to make my stomach turn. So let me stir the pot a little.... wink

Would anyone in their right minds trade?

        Domi
        Ekman-Larsson
        Strome
        Pronger
        2016 7th overall
        2016 20th overall

        for

        Lupul
        Gardiner
(insert any player in the league - Crosby/Ovechkin/Kane/McDavid/Matthews)

        I wouldn't.

Still too much. Those 3 combined will produce way more than Matthews ever will by himself. Makes no sense. This is like trading 1 dollar for 6 quarters. Yeah sure you have that shiny one dollar coin but the other team still conned you out of 0.50$......

cost of doing business. Dvorak + Domi is not enough Dvorak +Domi + Strome is too much. Well then we are somewhere in the middle then. I think my proposal is closer than the original trade which included OEL and the 7th overall pick.

To get OEL the offer would need to be:

        To TOR: OEL, 20th overall

To ARI: 1st OA, Gardiner and Kapanen type prospect.

        OEL >>>>>>>>> 1st OA.

Man i wish OEL played for Washington or Pittsburgh or Chicago just to show posters how good he is. He'd be up there with Karlsson but better defensively. Its really astounding but playing in Arizona, he doesn't get the exposure he deserves. The guy is an elite stud dman. Just goes to show how bad Arizona is and has been the last little while. Not too mention their prospect pool is stacked with amazing players. Domi, Duclair, Strome, Dvorak, Fischer, Perlini, Merkley, Dauphin, Macinnis, Garland, etc Their top 6 is laid out for them right there. If they draft 2 dmen with their 1st rounders this year, the only thing they need to focus on the next decade is getting a goalie. That's when they throw money at the problem.

Not too mention that when Matthews becomes a UFA, given that he may want to jump ship and go home, they could get him for free without having to give up assets. (Not saying he would but in the off chance it happens)
