Odds are that Cheveldayoff will want Veleno+Hronek/McIsaac+Detroit's 2019 2nd for a sign and trade Jacob Trouba say 8 years $56 million Trouba signs for less with his hometown Red Wings. If we deal for him that's probably what it will cost us.

All that said Trouba has had huge issues with Winnipeg's management as far as contracts are concerned. That usually means trading a player before his walk year. But Columbus has shown there is another path: do the Jet's embrace that?
Detroit would be wise to make inquires on what it would take. If it is Veleno+Hronek or McIsaac+Detroit's 2019 2nd then it is a hard pass (he's a one year rental). But the media leak would get the message out that he is wanted in Detroit. Just like Tyler Myers and the 2014 and 2015 rumors. I think the Wings might target him.
