They should just hire Marleau to be a coach and place him on LTIR.

He has to have injury to be put on LTIR. Being slow and old in not an injury. League would investigate and would punish Toronto if they found they were trying to hide him due to cap problems.

Lets look at Zetts in Detroit, he was healthy enough to play all 82 games and than all of a sudden just as his front loaded contract slides down, he fails to make the team and is hidden on the IR ?

Yes he played all 82 games. But one he had at least one back surgery that I know of, had to leave the Olympics due to the back problem and did not practice very much the season he played 82 games. So there is a history of back problems and evidence of problems. He was also checked out by a slew of doctors both from the organization and by the NHL. Also I believe Holland knew that he was hanging the skates up when he signed Vanek. If he could have played that move would never of happened and we would still have been under the cap.

You will have to tell me all about the Marleau injuries, because from what I can remember he has been relatively healthy.

Everybody knows Zetts situation is fishy. He was healthy enough to earn the 7 million per season but the last 3 years of his contract drops to 3.3, 1 and 1 million. The evidence is right there. He retired not from injury, he retired for lack of interest of playing for the low $ amount. Though I guess it all doesn't matter since his contract was signed before he hit the age of 35 years old, unlike the Leafs and Marleau situation.

Zetterberg also didn’t practice all last season due to his back, so while the money argument is convenient, the back issue just didn’t flare up. Also, Z had to go to the NHL dr for final review in NYC, which he did just before he announced he couldn’t play anymore, so obviously the NHL cleared him.

Marleau can’t retire period, or the Leafs will get hit, since he signed after 35 (even post trade, they own it til the end). OTT could pay him as long as he’s playing. But, Marleau would have to agree to the trade, which he definitely won’t.

Wow did not know you Zetterberg personally.

Throughout the season when he was playing it was reported he was in pain due to the back injury. I gave you two examples where he had legit back issues, but you come up with, he did not want to play for low salary. Like you even know. He had legit problems that you can not dispute just come up with some bs arguement that has no basis but in your own mind. You proved nothing except the reason why many people dislike TML fans.

“The only reason why we wrote such a long contract was because of the payroll,” said Zetterberg, translated by the Detroit News. “It is quite obvious that you try to fool the system. Actually, I may have two years left, but I have also learned to take one year at a time. But I will probably not play until then.”

Fake back injury because he doesn't wanna risk long term injury on those final 3 cheap years, read the above quote from Zetts himself. This was planned, it's not that hard to read between the lines.
