Why would you give that ridiculous deal to Brock Nelson to have him play 3rd line LW? Just play Sprong or Shore there.

Silfverberg just got 5.25M with a career high of 49 points. Nelson is in the same category. Maybe he should be at 5.25 too but 5.8 isn’t a stretch given what he’s making already. He’s only 27 and he’s better than shore and Sprong plus the need for a left handed LW is clear. Adding 25 goals isn’t a bad thing.

As for the “3rd line winger”, the ducks won’t have numbered lines outside of the the 4th line. It’ll be whoever’s rolling at that point playing the most.

Isn't Julius Honka a bust? Meanwhile, Ritchie has been improving year-on-year. Seems like a bad trade for us.

Playing Devils Advocate here....

Why not move Jones on the Henriques wing? Jones-Rico-Terry was doing well and it helps us save $5.8 mil and it gives the kids a chance to play more. Move Kase to play with Getzy and Comtois. Like you said the Ducks won't have numbered lines outside the 4th line. Save the $5.8 for extensions down the road. Also, you're moving Ritchie who is a left handed left wing which we are in need of... Maybe we go and spend $4 mil on a RH dman to play with Fowler...

PS: I see what you did and like the moves. Just having some fun here

Probly didn’t need to add the 4th but some of Honka’s advanced numbers are actually pretty good

Fair enough. I think I'd pass personally. I am not entirely sure Honka brings enough to warrant moving Ritchie. I am not against moving Ritchie, but I think, if we do look to move him, you do it next year. Give him a chance to shine under a good coach and then move him when his value is high. I know you could ask "but what if he regresses?". I think the risk is low that he'll regress, but, if so, he's just never going to have the impact we want. He'll be 24 and the excuse of "power-forwards take longer to develop" will be pretty tired at that point, meaning Ritchie is probably someone we should be looking to trade, especially given how stacked we are on LW i.e. Rakell, Comtois, Jones, Shore, etc.
