Not realistic but Matthews belongs in AZ. Dvorak is reunited with Marner in Toronto. Matthews would step into Strome's spot in the lineup.

    We can agree your proposed Matthews deal is not going to happen, I'm from TO and you are right... Matthews is a native Arizonian, he belongs in Arizona and he would do wonders to grow the game in the southern US. That said, the only scenario I can see the Leafs trading Matthews (1st overall pick) is if Arizona (or anyone for that matter) grossly overpaid... Strome, Domi, Dvorak and Arizona's first pick in 2016 would do it... makes no sense for Arizona, but it would be the only deal TML management could announce without being run out of town smile Long suffering Leafs fans have fully bought into the Shanahan rebuild plan... we are excited about Matthews

    The Leafs likely are going to draft Matthews. The Leafs would like a # 1 centre to go along with Nylander. IF, IF, Matthews is traded, Dylan Strome is coming to the Leafs. Strome and more.

    Think you would have to include the 20th overall pick via NYR along with Dvorak and your 7th overall to get Matthews. If Matthews were Canadian, you'd have to trade Ekman Larsson, Strome & your next 3 1st rounders so might be value there for AZ...

    Equal value for Matthews would be Strome and Arizona's 7oa. Not saying T.O would do it but realistically that is equal value.

    If Matthews were a month younger, he would of been in last years draft where he would of been selected 3rd right ahead of Strome and after Eichel. The difference between Strome and Matthews isn't as great as so many believe but in true honesty i were T.O, i would make this trade. Adding a future #1 center in Strome AND a Juolevi/Chychrun/Nylander is an amazing return. Franchise center and a franchise dman for 1 franchise center.

    Matthews is not McDavid but too many people are getting hyped up as if he is. Toronto isn't going to trade Matthews but even if the would, Arizona would wise to not give in to some of these outlandish ideas.
