Why the Patrick move?
BC johnny from south jersey? If so that's dumb. He's a good player but you will be disappointed with NP as a Flames fan. If we can keep JG out west we al prefer it!

The idea was to gain more feistiness (Konecny) and size (Patrick) while trying to minimize the skill downgrade as much as possible. Hoping for growth from Patrick, of course. If Philly will add more, I'd certainly take it!

Johnny's a big hit in South Jersey/Philly so I get that. Saw him play in a BS Jrs games 4-5 yrs ago. Got very ugly, homer refs looked the other way called opposing north jersey team on everything . Flames would've been pissed had he gotten hurt playing basically pickup hockey with goons. Get Ferland back!

Patrick isn't that interesting for a "near" 1st overall pick. Big body, right shot, center...checks lots of boxes. Just not developing like most hoped. Konecny is interesting, but that package altogether isn't worth it to the Flames given how good Gaudreau is, how old he is, and his contract for the next three years.

Better idea: save those offer sheet picks and trade Gaudreau to TB for Point, straight up.

Point will get $9.5M AAV (6-8 years) easily. If you're moving Gaudreau anyways, why not save TB about $3M in cap space and save CGY the picks?

Could make sense! But I still want some more feisty players with skill in the lineup too. We'd need to look elsewhere, in that case.
