Laaksonen is a very good RHD prospect id be sad to lose, but Kadri is a great center we could use.

I did it mostly because of Laaksonen who imo is close to NHL ready if not ready.

I mean.. its possible but until im proven otherwise (AHL doesnt count, TJ Brennan was great Dman there) I think Borgman might be closer to what Toronto needs on third pairing with Liljegren. Borgman is physical good defensively. Rosen is offensively good but eh defensively.. I see Borgman as better option.

Tbh wasn't expecting the trade to be fair. Pleasantly surprised.

Reports are Laaksonen is planning on staying in Finland next season as well. He will still at least be not in NA for next season, but who knows how quickly he can acclimate to the NA game! Buffalo has Pilut and Olofsson who have transitioned beautifully

You likely expected Kadri for Reinhart, Risto and Eichel all retained which would be normal with most of the Leafs fan base tears of joy

Yes, forgot to undone the ELC signing. Maybe he would sign and be loaned like Jesper Lindgren. But I like his game a lot. Speedy defenceman with nice defensive game and solid offensive touch that can provide defensive work needed. I think he would acclimate very fast and well. Its much less complicated these days tbh

I doubt you get Vancouver to retain plus taking Zaitsev back. Take the retention out and you're a lot closer to a deal.

& Why are you dumping Kadri like that? I get that Laaksonen is a fairly decent prospect, but for what Naz is you can get a better package of closer ready prospects or young guys. Toronto's RHD prospects are fine with Liljjegren, Duszak, Hollowell, Lindgren, etc. but they need NHL players to help them win now. Dumping Kadri for a prospect and a pick seems useless if that prospect won't be NHL ready for 2-3 years

Rosen will be on this team before Borgman is again. Borgman has struggled in the AHL this year. Injuries played a part in that, but even when he was healthy he struggled. Rosen has excelled and they're saying he's close to what Gardiner is. Babcock has publicly said he wants Rosen up with the big club. Rosen is the better option and will be up sooner than Borgman

I mean I hope you are right, Im just saying that I would pump on break regarding his game. Dont expect much. I like him, I hope he stays and succeeds. Borgman.. I like more to be honest but just a personal point of view. Borgman when playing in NHL he was good, I liked his defensive play and physicality. Either one of them makes it on bottom pair and Im happy with both.

Its fair value, but I wouldn't do because I am a huge fan of Laaksonen, and top RHD are so hard to find.

Thats certainly a good offer but I dont think Leafs would part with 2nd. But 2020 draft is deeper meaning that some guys from 2nd round in 2020 would be in 1st round this year so Id say yes

VAN says no. We dont need another big contract on our hands. Our forward group is crowded right now so we dont need Brown. Adding in a second only makes it look better, but we still reject.

I dont think they would agree with it. Me being Leafs fan and kinda knowledgable I know what Laaksonen is capable of so I know what I want for Naz, he is great guy, great player but getting 2nd rounder (or maybe late 1st from BUF) along Laaksonen would be satisfying return imo. I tried to make it as fair as possible.

Laaksonen is insane plus a high pick but Kadri slotting in being Eichel and in front Mittelstadt would be very nice tbh.
