"Leader" is just a word that fans use for justifying having a player who has no useful purpose but eats up cap and takes roster spot from a more deserving player.

Probably true, but it's not like we need the cap space. Doesn't really affect anything

Maybe if the Habs have spent 4.625m on an NHL player instead of Laval player, they might have been a few points better and made the playoffs.

Considering we have 8.5 Million Dollars in cap space just sitting there, I don't think signing Alzner affecting anything. It's better to have it sitting there than it is to be maxed to the limit.

Agree with you. Most team especially non playoffs shouldn't be at the cap....there is no room improvement. Certainly that is the Oilers problem and now the Ducks seem to be in that situation too. True contenders (not even the Leafs) should be the only teams at the cap.

Absolutely hate when a bottom of the league team signs a player to a 10-11 million dollar contract. Makes no sense to me TBH. Only players who deserve that money are Toews/Kane type players who have won multiple cups for their team. That's why Tampa is so good.

Believe it or not, I didn't want the Habs to make the playoffs. I would rather take my chances in the draft lottery and perfect the team next season. Everything else you said in that statement was obviously just a troll, so it doesn't warrant a response.

Price and Weber arn't signed until they're 40?

That isn't another 7+ seasons at $18,500,000?

Like my logic says. Point production means absolutely nothing. These guys are both in the NHL because they are capable of it. Their jobs aren't to produce points. It's to play defense. Your logic is that since Rosen has put up good points in the AHL, it will translate to the NHL. It has not done that. It's only 3 games because that's all that he has played.

Actually Rosen is in the NHL and Juulson is not ......

Yep. Both are signed until 40 and will be NHL players until they are 40

Juulsen was sent down to the AHL to recover from an injury and was shut down for the year.

Rosen is 25 with 7 Career NHL games
Juulsen is 22 with 44 Career Games

Exactly ... so as per your comments .... Juulsen is the only one whose proven they're not an NHL player so far.

That makes no sense. Calle went -1 again last night. Has he had a good game since he came up?

I'm aware that my comments have devolved.

But easy with predicting NHL careers 1 game at a time ... 1 goal in 3 games don't mean much (I'm wasn't out here calling for Rosen to have 27 goal seasons).

You said he has top potential because he had decent stats in the AHL. Apparently because he puts up points it means he has the potential to be an elite NHL player.

Yeah if you put up close to a PPG in the AHL - you do have the potential to put up 0.5 PPG in the NHL - which makes you a top 4 defense IF YOU CAN DEFEND WELL ENOUGH.

Which I've repeatedly stated remains to be seen.

So what are we arguing about? I've said he isn't going to be a top 4 defender because his defensive game isn't anywhere close to NHL Calibre. We are both thinking the same thing.

Neither of us know what a full season in the NHL will look like for him.

Judge his defense after that ... it looks good in the AHL and we don't know how it will translate.

Stralman didn't look like an NHL player from 23-25 .... but he turned into a top 4 .... and his offense wasn't close to Rosen's.

And Schenn looked like a beast.
