Description

The Backes deal makes sense to me if Minnesota wants to move on from Rask. It's kind of a trade / re-trade similar to Spooner being moved twice this season. They probably should have kept Nino, but they didn't so now they can get a younger player with more upside who's scored more points in 10 less games.

With Backes and Miller off the books McAvoy gets a long term deal in the range of Aaron Ekblad.

Carlo gets a bridge deal like Trouba got.

Studnicka starts in the AHL, but injuries always occur at some point so he'll get his shot.

Bjork is another possible call up.

Miller and Cehlarik get moved for mid picks.

The Bruins don't spend to the cap which allows them a possible rental, but more importantly saves space for next season when DeBrusk, Grzelcyk and Coyle need new deals.
