Anyways, the Oilers were also close to trading the 4th overal pick to NYR for ryan mcdonagh, so i highly see us not picking matthew tkachuk, nor any players from the top 10 draft class...

Oilers only looked at Chabot in 2015. After acquiring Connor McDavid they needed a Left handed D man. They traded the pick for Reinhart to speed up the rebuild. Then in 2016 they start looking at Sergachev only to have Pulju fall on them. They give up and acquire Sekera

There is the story of how the Rangers had a deal in place for the 4th overall so they can snag up Keller, but when Columbus got Dubois, Oilers nixed the deal so they can draft Puljujärvi since they thought he would be gone at 3. Dont think they had eyes on Sergachev based on that all happening.
