No.. Nylander is not being moved. Also Zaitsev for Oleksiak.. I dont know if we would like to get another LHD. I would like Demers more. Also Johnsson would fetch better RHD.

I don't know how Toronto is going to keep Nylander and sign Marner and other important pieces. The math doesn't add up.... Nylander didn't really set himself apart from the pack, especially to justify his cap hit. Gotta be creative and beef up D.

So get rid of a guy who's upside is a point per game centre, because he had a rough 20 games coming off a contract dispute?

Solid plan!

Bump the cap up to its rumoured 83m, move Brown and avoid Oleksiak, problem solved.

I would also move Kadri long before I even consider moving Nylander.

What's your plan on defense? Keeping Zaitsev adds 4.5 mil. for low production. Remember Kapanen and Johnsson are free agents this off season as well. If Toronto doesn't get to the cup finals this year, I don't see them keeping Nylander, but that's my opinion.

I agree about not moving Nylander.

I significantly disagree about moving Kadri first. He is so underappreciated it's crazy.

He is a prime aged center who is quite good, but not dominant defensively, who has back to back years of 30 goals and 60 points and is on a darling contract through his prime.

In a lot of ways to a cap strapped team, he is one of our most valuable (not most important nor best) pieces because of his bang for buck.

Also interesting comparison

Nylander through age 22
224 gp 0.24 gpg and 0.67 ppg

Kadri through age 22
99 gp 0.25 gpg and 0.64 ppg

A lot less games but production pretty similar...

I fully appreciate Kadri, he's one of my fav Leafs, but if it comes down to moving him or Nylander, its Kadri all day.

I'm not to concerned with ppg comparisons, especially with Nylanders first 20 or so games this year. Nylander was world's ahead of Kadri at each stage of development, and is entering his prime, while Kadri (who still holds high trade value) is much closer to his decline. At some point nhl teams are going to start dealing guys at peak or high value, and the teams that start this trend are going to be way ahead of the curve.
