Loui for Lucic and a 4th

Description
I actually think this trade could help both teams. Hear me out:

EDM is looking for someone to play the RW with McDavid and Draisaitl, and everyone they have tried so far has failed (with maybe the exception of Chaisson). Eriksson historically has been able to score, so maybe he could be the missing piece? They do not take any additional salary cap, and actually save a year of the cap hit (Lucic has one more year on his contract, hence the 4th round pick going back to the Canucks).

VAN wants more veteran leadership in the locker room, and like to have physical forwards. Again, they do not take on any additional cap space by acquiring Lucic and giving EDM Eriksson. I think acquiring Lucic makes other physical forwards expendable, like Beagle and Schaller. VAN then in theory would be able to move those players and have additional cap space to sign free agents (I randomly selected Stralman as an example).

This may not be a popular trade, but it's one of those trades where maybe both players get a fresh start and improve their play.

Additional Notes:
-I think both players waive their NTCs; Lucic is from the BC area, and Eriksson will have a chance to resurrect his career.
-Pay no mind to the Beagle and Schaller trades; the returns could be disputed, but the point is that they are able to move on from those players, because Lucic fulfills the need for physicality.

Lucic v Eriksson - Turd sandwich for Turd sandwich w/ Cheese. Both players have terrible buyout proof contracts... so that parts a wash. Cap hits are the same... still a wash. Similar production this year... still a wash. Lucic does have the extra year + a full NMC for 2 more seasons which i think would cost more around maybe a 3rd vs 4th (kinda nitpicky there i guess). Overall value does seem about right to me and the logic behind it isn't bad. Would be kindof the Spooner/Gagner deal revisited and i think both those players have benefited alot from their change of scenery. Perhaps another change of scenery deal could pay dividends here for both players. At this point, it wouldn't really leave either team worse off.

Send Loui and Roussel to the Oilers, Roussel contract will help swallow the pill of Lucic extra year. And send Beagle back to the Caps, they miss him.

I would think the Oilers do not want more salary, considering they will be close to the cap. Also, Roussel has been solid in Vancouver, so I do not think they would want to move him.

He would be going from an awesome city to a dreary one. From a mediocre team to an awful one. Why would he waive?

Because he plays fourth line and now can play with arguably the best player in the world? But yeah I think it's fair to question whether or not he would waive.

He’s not good enough to be a first liner anywhere. He might get the odd power play shift with McDavid, but he isn’t lining up on his wing every night

Right, Zach Kassian is better suited for that spot.

Fair but would you waive to go to a team that's had 4 recent 1st overall picks & still hasn't figured it out/wasting McDavid??? its 4th year & one playoff appearance

If I want to play first line minutes and contribute to a team in a significant way, and possibly resurrect my career, maybe I would. The Oilers and Canucks are currently tied in points this year, so it's not like he's leaving a Stanley Cup contender. He may like his chances going forward with McDavid. I do not know. I think at this point it's fair to question whether or not Loui would waive, but I would not definitively state he is or is not going to waive. I said I believe he would waive, but that's all that is. A belief. Anyway, the point of the thread was just to posit an idea where two teams could possibly benefit from this. Whether it happens or not is a whole other story.
