Think you have overestimated the value of the Rangers in these deals. Eric Staal? I thought NYR had enough of him last season.

Disagree on Stepan. O'Reilly is a virtually identical comp who also got $1mm per more than Stepan on new deal.
You might be right on Barrie, that was more guesswork based on cap hit, Avs needs etc

Don't think Rangers are overvalued at all. Returns are based on recent comps. Staal was a bust, but as a cheaper FA worth a look given the market

Eric Staal won't be returning, but other than that and Lucic this is fairly realistic.

I don't think Edmonton would make that trade. They love Draisaitl and they already have 5 LH defensman that could play in the NHL next season. Also that 1st rounder (4th overall) will most definitely produce a player that will be better than Chris Kreider.

None of their L shot D are in McD class and they want to improve immediately. Could probably move one of their legacy contracts. Chiarelli knows McD well which also derisks the trade. You're also kidding if you think #4 pick is sure to be better than Kreider who is a proven top6 and a physical freak. Also, that 4 pick does not help Edmonton playoff chances next year, or even possibly year after.
You might be right in Draisaitl, so simply swap him for RNH in above scenario

Yeah, Lucic was a bit fanciful. Boedker may be realistic though

OK. Sabres have to give up a 1st rounder for the pleasure of having Nash at 6m a year, but the Rangers can sign Lucic at 6.25m.

Seems like all of these trades over value the NYR players...especially that Nash trade woof.

You seriously comparing 2 yrs of Nash @ 6 to 5 years of Lucic @ 6.25? Actual elite PF vs. role-player who has never hit the 30 G mark? Lay off the bath salts. As I said, Lucic was a bit fanciful, but to equate the two players skill set and associated term is absurd.

We're not going back in time, there is no way Nash is a elite PF now. Lay off the bath salts? Stop being a dick....oh you can't.

No one wants to touch on the O'Reilly and Stepan identical statement. Stepan is a good two way player who can score but is inconsistent, O'Reilly is one of the the top 2 defensive forwards in the NHL AND one of the best faceoff men in the game as Stepan is awful at the dots. O'Reilly is the better player hands down.

I wouldn't call it hands down, but you are right about Stepan being crap on the dots. Step is a strong 2-way C as well and has played on top PK unit for a while now. Here are some stats for ya:

Come on... Going back in time? Nash is one year removed from a 43 goal season. Was out with injuries and banged up this year. We shall see I guess
