Miller and a first for liljegren then leafs will consider it or Gardiner for Miller and a second leafs will more than likely only pay a third and a c prospect for Miller casue that’s what he is worth

I would trade Zaitsev and a third for Ryan Pulock if the Islanders would take it, but I doubt that they would. What do we need the other stuff for?

Islanders aren't doing that trade by trading Pulock. Leafs have no reason to trade Sparks, and then to go with worse backup and no one with the Marlies that could be recalled. Leafs need to rid themselves of cap next season...by having an expiring Gardiner contract not adding Miller. And please, Miller was good last year but he sitting at times this year at time. Again this RHD fantasy that any RHD in the league the Leafs will overpay for.

The reality of the Leafs' impending cap situation is that next year's defense is going to be Rielly, Muzzin, Dermott, Liljegren and three spear carriers. Unless Dubas moves some major piece, which would be sad to see.

If I was to guess it's Reilly, Muzzin, Dermot and Zaitsev. That's pretty good Rosen has been very good with Marlies. Ozhiganov was coming along fine till the Muzzin trade, I think he still NHL good. So that's six Dmen. Even if 6.25m Marleau retires, they still might have to rid themselves of Brown or someone. Yikes, if Marleau stays.....Now you might talking Nylander and just trading him for non cap futures.
I think Zaitsev stays. He a bit overpaid but is competent. And if he goes, you still need a RHD to replace him, and play well. So to trade him is difficult (for cap. reasons) and to replace him on the ice is difficult also.

Yeah, all the projections I've done suggest that if Zaitsev stays, then either Kadri or Nylander has to go, from a purely economic viewpoint (moving Hyman's or Brown's salary won't be enough).
