Oesterle has looked strong over the past couple of months playing for and getting prime minutes for an injury-riddled Coyotes team. He has taken advantage of an opportunity and is reaping the rewards.

The Coyotes secure a 3rd pair LD with the demonstrated capacity to play up the lineup and on special teams for the next 2 seasons. When they’re healthy next year their blue line could be sneaky good with a strong cohort of experienced veterans - Hjalmersson (32), Ekman-Larsson (28), Goligosky (34), Demers (31) - emerging talent - late-bloomer Oesterle, Chychrun, and Lyubushkin - and a strong cohort of prospects led by Pierre-Olivier Joseph.

I bet EDM wishes they still had him in their lineup. But, they'd rather overpay for the always-injured Andrej Sekera, who has missed most of the last 2 seasons, and the good-for-nothing Kris Russell, who has scored a combined 44 points in nearly 3 full seasons w/ EDM.

hey, now, don't forget about 11-goal-scorer Kevin Connauton.

but, yeah, smart move by Chayka to secure a defensive line-up for the next couple of years, especially considering that none of their prospects will likely be ready for NHL duty by then, outside of maybe PO Joseph (Kyle Capobianco would've been, if it weren't for that ACL injury).
