Description
From the comments section of a Caps post by Boush, but I think different forms of this have been bouncing back and forth for a rew days. I liked Sammy's idea of the Leafs moving up a little in next year's draft while getting more experienced at center, and picking up an RHD who can play and is signed next year, and is thought to have top pair potential, although we'll basically never find out while he's behind Carlson and Niskanen in Washington.

Not sure if this is the ideal return for Washington. I mean, I"m guessing they'd rather have Hyman, but this is what was offered and it didn't sound bad.

I like both these kinds of deals...Kruger obviously at TDL...perfect 4C rental, IMO.

I'd rather keep Brown for the rest of this season but could be down with the idea of Brown for Bowey + random pick

I've seen a few versions of Brown for Bowey floating around. Sometimes with one side adding. Sometimes just a one for one, with experience and offense for potential, cap hit, and positional need.

@SammyT_51 asked about adding Jaskin. My guess was that the Caps could call that an okay shake up for any of Lindholm, Ennis, or Gauthier, just to still have a good fourth liner. He picked Lindholm but I'm not personally invested in the outcome. I see a lot of similarities between Jaskin and Gauthier in terms of how tough they are to play against, although Gauthier's bigger and Jaskin's a much better skater. Jaskin's a little older, but they're each tied at two goals, and for Jaskin, that's not his career high. I don't know. What would you think?

Any one of those 4th liners to Toronto carry value only in that they're on super cheap contracts. I personally can't stand Gauthier. He's big but looks like a giraffe on skates and often isn't in position to use his size...but at $675k he's almost invaluable to have on next year's squad...even if it's in the pressbox. Lindholm I find serviceable as a 4th liner and PK'er....and Ennis is also great for what he is...and at $650k...if either of Lindholm or Ennis are willing to re-sign for under $1m again...they become useful 4th liners...but I'm not bothered if any of the three get added in any trade
