Description
From the Jets perspective: Possibly adding Laine who could move directly into a top 6 role gives the Jets the opportunity to roster a very competitive group while Ehlers and Laine are on ELCs. Jets sacrifice some future for two players that give the Jets a formidable top 9.

From the Oilers perspective: Change is needed and this is now McDavid's team. Trouba immediately addresses the void on the RHD position and Comrie can be their goalie of the future to develop behind Talbot. Lowry and Stafford (along with Trouba) give the Oil some of the size and tenacity the team has been lacking. The first rounder allows them to continue to draft high end prospects to grow with McDavid.

Your close but ultimately its too much for Edm. Those are 2 established star players to give up.

But if you think about it a bit more Nuge for Trouba straight up makes the most sense. Its pretty much - Johansen for Jones V2.

Not a bad thought.

Although, I see Edmonton packaging their #4 pick with one of their stud forwards, for a top end D. Or putting together a package of #4 and a few of their young guys for a very good dman.

I get frustrated when I see people only seeing value in players for their offensive output. The theory here is to create teams that win games. Edmonton collects players like they are playing fantasy hockey. I'm sure that McDavid, Hall and Draisaitl would also be deemed "star players". So how does a team with five star forwards come last in the western conference? Reality is that you don't win games on paper. Edmonton has a soft team that is easy to play against. Having an Olympic figure skater as your skating coach speaks volumes. Had to vent.

CaptainWheeler - easy Herb Brooks. A bad team can have star players on it. The Oilers issues are on defense. They have zero dmen that would be considered top 4 dmen on a playoff team.
