Pagnotta suggested Toffoli as the caps target and Bernstein said roughly the same thing cuz Chris Patrick who’s the director of player personnel was there. That usually means someone significant or a significant move

Why the Spurgeon trade? Would understand if it was for cap relief but it doesn’t get much, so just curious.

Oh agreed, I like this trade a lot. I think Spurgeon is slightly better than Niskanen so could see this trade working with maybe a mid-round pick (4th?). Otherwise pretty even straight up, and could help shake things up.

Not sure that means anything specific or serious is going on. Chris meets with a lot of front office folks when the Caps travel. I know it wouldn't be his call it would be Mac or a players rep that would really mean something has gone down. But we shall see.
