Can you people making these Panarin deals please understand what CBJ wants?! CBJ is okay with hanging onto him unless they get something back to help them now or pieces back that they can flip some of those pieces to acquire someone who can.

THESE OFFERS AIN'T ENOUGH.

I agree that the jackets will have better offers than the one in this post. But this offer you’re making is a joke right? Because the caps will hang up before Kekalainen finishes pronouncing “samsonov.”

Then why is there a rumour they'll trade him for Carey Price?

What? Too soon? smile

Buddy, he hasn’t played a game in the NHL yet. Panarin is gonna cost an A level prospect, a first, and a young NHLer. My offer covers that. He’s not exactly tearing up the AHL either. You wanna swap Samsanov for Alexeyev that’s fine too. Either offer is fair

I don't see Washington looking to trade another Filip Forsberg, just now. They just won a Cup. They squeaked past Columbus on the way (4-0-2). They probably have some guys who can help Columbus right now (and vice versa).

As a rental he would be easy to get. With thought of resigning, then you have problems. Someone like Niskanen or Oshie would need to be moved for the cap space. (not necessarily in the deal for Panaran)

Oh I agree they probably won’t be interested in Panarin. I was just showing the value. Doubt he goes to a metro team

Exactly. And Oshie is on a 29 goal pace with term remaining, now looking cheap.

Panarin is on a 34 goal pace. Oshie, 29. The difference of five goals is made up by term, and intangibles, if it's Oshie, who takes faceoffs, kills penalties, dominates shootouts, etc.

Niskanen is basically Pietrangelo, with a championship, so I think value is pretty well established.

“Buddy,” you’re not getting Burakovsky and a 1st on top of Samsonov for a RENTAL. No one is dumb enough to pay that price. The top prospect in the league at his own position is not getting traded for less than 20 regular season games and a single playoff run.

Pietrangelo's much better at second assists, on ice corsi, and XGF%, which reflect the number of times the crease gets cleared by Edmundson, and number of shots that get deflected on net by Maroon and Schenn--stuff Pietrangelo doesn't affect.

Niskanen blows him away in primary points, zone starts, and shooting percentage--stuff he actually goes out on the ice and does, by himself, with his big boy pants on.

Good catch.

He's just a Penguins fan, egging us on, trying to wear down the Caps by asking us to overpay on every trade post. He's so nice about it that I can't even get mad, though.

All depends what the market is. Of course it’s an over pay but that’s what happens at trade deadline. We’ve seen a lot of overpays before that’s forsure. I also can’t remember the last time a player of Panarins caliber got moved on deadline. Factor in the fact that they’re trading within the division, it’s gonna have to be an overpay. Not saying Washington does it, like I said they probably wouldn’t, but if they wanted Panarin that’s what it would cost them. You can swap Samsanov for Alexeyev like I said.

All year, the Blue Jackets have been proposing the kind of nonsense you're suggesting. The Caps don't need Panarin at those prices. No one else does, either, and the Blue Jackets fans are at it, again. Caps fans are trying to talk some sense into the conversation, but Washington isn't giving up a 1st and a top prospect for a little guy with nine hits this season, who can't backcheck, who averages one second of penalty kill per game, and who copies his goal celebrations from the Philadelphia Eagles. smile

Dude Panarin is sick. I’m not even a jackets fan, but he’s a legit player. Caps won’t overpay for him I agree, but don’t sell him short. IF he hits the trade market there will be teams that overpay for him 100%. He’s a star
