This Kapanen offer would possibly be enough for the Leafs to pass, they would get your 1st and 3rd as compensation and its not a stretch to think they may regress more as Kane and Toews get older. Before you mention that Kane is having a career year, keep in mind scoring is up by a fair amount this year. We could see double digits in the number of players who score 100+ points. That hasn't happened since the 80's I believe. There hasn't been more than 3 since 2010 (I didn't go back further). So Kane's numbers this year are good but also artificially boosted when compared to his other years.

The average team would score 5 more goals this year than last...IF the pace continues So, I do agree that scoring is up...I think it's due to a different reason. There is a greater delta between good teams and bad. 5 goals for the average teams over 82 games...that's not that much, but the individual scoring stats are higher because the good teams are better are more complete compared to the bad teams. thoughts?

maybe, but I think goalie equipment is the more obvious reason for the increase in scoring.
