how on earth do you figure he'll have any kind of value in the summer if you cant get a midround pick for him now? at least in this scenario you get an nhl player for your playoff push and the mid round pick that you want for hudon - no use in having him sit in the press box while you have that much cap space

Regardless of his roster status this season, he's still a bottom 6 forward with potential. It's not his fault Montreal has some of the best depth in the league. Instead of 3-4 teams being interested by the TD, Many more teams will be looking for cheap bottom 6 help in the offseason. A team like Toronto who will be paying 3 players over 10 million will need a guy like Hudon.

and they would give up assets to a divisional rival rather than just use one of the 5-10 guys who are just as good as hudon on their AHL team?? im disputing your point so much as the terrible example though. would any team give more than a 4th round pick though? thats pretty stupid imo
