Description
I heard this on the radio this morning about someone estimating a Nashville and canucks trade.

Apparently they say Virtanen for the rights to Fabbro is fair.

I guess if u wanna argue for and against you could say,

1) Nashville doesn't need Fabbro and Virtanen may thrive in a new environment within the top 6-9. After all Virtanen was on a 30 goal pace playing in the canucks top 6. And Fabbro would add to canucks not so good D prospect pool.

Or

2) neither of these two are worth the trade bcuz Fabbro can be packaged somewhere, or he may not want to sign in Vancouver/Nashville and hit free agency, and Virtanen may never be more than a 3rd liner.

What do you guys think?

Wait and see. If the rumors are true that Fabbro doesn't want to sign with NSH then why not see if Canucks can sign him for free.

He's a BC boy so I'd imagine he'd at least set up a meeting with the canucks if he decides to test free agency

Think its a good idea to target him in the future, but Fabbro is highly touted and Nashville would want a big name scorer ie panarin, stone, duchene, etc for the playoffs over a guy finding his stride in Virtanen.

Fabbro holds too much leverage to be used as a 1 for 1 in those types of trades... if he doesnt want to spend the next 8 years of his life in Ottawa or Columbus he just doesn't sign and goes where he wants in August of 2020.

From a Vancouver perspective, and as much as I would hate to lose a Vancouver guy (... albeit to get a Vancouver guy), I think you have to make this deal...

    2019 D Pairings of:
    Edler Fabbro
    Hughes Tanev
    Hutton Stetcher

That is 3 pretty decent NHL defensive pairings... it does what the organization has been talking about for a long time in insulating their rookies with veterans, and on tough nights/matchups/pk HCTG can still go back to Edler Tanev if he wants...

I would wait and see what Fabbro does this summer, if we don't have to give up Virtanen then why do it?

I could not agree with this statement more! My dream is that he would go back for his senior season and we could be involved in a bidding war in August of 2020...

However - Bob Mackenzie has reported that he wants to turn pro after his Boston College season ends this year, which means that the summer might be too late, and I think the player is worth the risk!

Very true. I just wish the Canucks would make some smart moves so this rebuild gets over with
