Zaitsev for Hossa

Description
value is probably too low on the Siegenthaler trade. I'd add a second. Mango gets another year bridge until the end of the Marleau deal. Kapanen gets two years until the end of Hossa's deal. three, five and 6 years out will be big.

EDIT 1: Nick Jensen from 1.25 to 2.25

First off the Yotes love Hossa... notice that he is not on Ltir???? There’s a reason for that.

Secondly why do the leafs who need rhd trade their best RHD for and LTIR contract? You need to do something to fix the RHD that doesn’t involve under paying Jensen by 1m

Hossa has not played in the last 2 years. Hossa is not on Arizona's LTIR i believe because they at some point needed to be off the cap floor. Muzzin/Reilly can work and Dermott/Jensen is a better 2nd Pair than Gardiner/Zaitsev. I will change NJ's cap hit though because I agree he's too low.

I think Jensen is a downgrade to zaitsev but a necessary one. Dermott I feel is an upgrade on gardiner in most areas.

Also wondering why you kept brown and traded Hyman?

I think Brown has a little more finesse and finishing ability in his game and he played well with Matthews in their rookie years. Also, sort of a recouped assets kind of thing? Traded for Hyman but drafted Brown so Hyman is kinda "Found Money" whereas Brown is homegrown

Personally I don’t think it matters too much one way or the other but I certainly give Hyman a slight edge. He has good chemistry with all of our top guys.

Also Rosen>Seigenthaler IMO.

Not horrible though.

Marner wants Matthews money. He is not taking a discount. He will want at least 10.5 mil but more likely he wants 11 mil.

Hyman is what we thought Brown was going to be and vice-versa ... Brown has been a real disappointment tbh. (sigh)

I just don't think another team is giving up four 1sts and $10.5M/yr for Marner. He's a special player, but a tier below Matthews (which is not a slight against him). If he wants more (and can get it via an offer-sheet), then all power to him and Leafs should not match imo. I'll be sad ... but I'll get over it.
