Zucc who is worth a late 1st equals out to karlsson and maybe a little more and backes is a cap dump anything over 2.5m so at 4m its quite fair for 3 years that nyr gets something in return even though with next years free agents crop id rather keep the cap space for a useful player not space.

Tolvanen straight up won't really do much for us and lower picks aren't very meaningful when you deal players like Kreider who can potentially lead em back to the finals.

Dumping Beleskey and Spooner was a major haul. Sweeney does not even pick up the phone to decline, he just ignores it.

what about signing a 32 year old Backes for $6M until he is 37? Beleskey is getting paid less for us while producing in the AHL for $875K other than a pointless 1.9M cap hit. especially with a team with 2 4th lines? that's a decent deal to take with salary retention.

Or they put him on waivers next year as his NMC is gone. When he clears they send him to Prov til accepts a trade somewhere that wants his cap hit to get to the floor but only have to pay him 5m in total salary over the final 2 years. If not his cap hit is less while buried then they buy him out the following year. And stll have JFK and Lauko.

Zucc is usesless to B’s. Does not make them a contender and would not be re-signed.
