By no means am I saying the Senators resign the specific players on here or for the amounts shown. Just showing the type of money they could pay players and still have plenty of cap space with Lucic's 4.5M cap hit.

If Melnyk would prefer to pay someone that is actually going to play games and he was able to convince EDM ownership to pay the remaining 2 years of Gaborik and 1 year of MacArthur. Then I could see this type of scenario being one of the few ways EDM could rid themselves of Lucic's contract and clear up $4.5M in cap space.

This would be in the offseason and I don't think the Senators would do it if they signed both Duchene and Stone to large long term deals but might be something they'd consider if they don't.

(Senators might want a middle to late round pick as well but it's more the contract situation that I'm showing than the actual deal and what else might be included)
