Why go after Kassian and Talbot? Feel like you could get Anderson and a 4th liner from Ottawa for less.

Let's put aside for now the issue of the overages and performance bonuses, because I don't understand them (but I think they adversely affect your math). You're going to need $20M to re-sign Matthews (roughly $10M more than his current hit), Marner (roughly $7M) and Kapanen (roughly $3M), at a minimum. Now assuming you let Ferland, Gardiner, Hainsey and Talbot walk, and the cap goes up $3M, plus Nylander's reduction gives you only about $19M to play with, and then you have to sign or promote four more players to fill their spots on the roster. I don't think these moves work for next year.

This would actually work cap wise. The actual cap hits for TDL are lower. Days left x daily cap hit. I would have to do the math to figure out for sure but it is close. Actually after scrolling back up and doing some quick math in my head I would say leave the Gudas trade out and stick with ozzy. And it works this year and next.

I think the trades are pretty fair but I don’t think it’s worth all that to upgrade zaitsev to pesce. I think nylander for pesce and foegele would work much better and keep foegele. I would also rather keep sparks. Already gave up 2 goalies this year to keep him. Let him get comfortable in a back up role and go from there.

?? I'm not talking about this year. I'm talking about the 2019-2020 season.

Agree with you on the dubious benefit of Pesce over Zaitsev and the obvious sense of keeping Sparks. If Toronto deems it necessary to upgrade the defense, I'd love to see Nylander come here to SoCal (for a package including Muzzin or Fowler) but neither local team needs a RW or C. The only teams I see needing Nylander positionally are Minnesota, Edmonton, Arizona and Carolina; other teams, of course, might want him in order to replace someone else.

Yup, doing up an agm just for palhal and his trade nylander for a 2nd round pick mentality lately. Going alohabetically through all potential non playoff teams. My Ducks Trade was Manson + Ritchie for nylander + liljegren. I dodn’t Put any picks in to balance trades with this one I would probably include a 2019 1st. 2nd if nylander gets back to normal before trade. Might not fit team needs perfectly but I think montour and Lilly moving forward could be good and nylander certainly increases talent speed and by pushing a player down the lineup, better depth. What do you think?
