Edmonton isnt/shouldnt be in the market for more LHD.... however a scoring winger like Toffoli would make plenty of sense if LA were to go into sell mode

If I'm the Kings, Toffoli is the one piece I'd hang onto even over Muzzin.

Jeff Carter made it known, That he'll retire before accepting a trade out of LA.

He did but I suspect it is more of a leverage play to try to not get traded. I have a hard time picturing him walk away from millions of dollars if he's actually traded

Agreed, Pretty sure he'd rather stay there in LA, But at the same time if the Kings are heading towards a rebuild here. Pretty sure he'd accept a deal to where he has a shot of winning a cup.

Bob McKenzie suggested that since Carter's actual salary is significantly lower than his cap hit for the last few seasons of his contract, he could possibly use retirement as a form of trade protection if the Kings decided to trade him somewhere where he didn't want to go and the Kings would get hit with significant recapture penalties. All he was saying is that Carter essentially has a NTC, even if he doesn't technically have a NTC.

At no time has Carter made any statement about retiring to nix a trade. The only public statement he has made at all is that he likes playing in LA and wants to stay. That doesn't mean he would veto a trade to a contender if one was offered up.
