Offseason Kessel and Maata Trades

Créé par: Quavo
Équipe: 2019-20 Penguins de Pittsburgh
Date de création initiale: 5 janv. 2019

Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Kessel Trade - I love Phil but the Penguins have to get younger if we want to extend this dynasty into the 2020s. We're one of the oldest teams in the league and have to keep the machine rolling.

Arizona needs a superstar forward and Phil would fit well there with the small market and he knows Tocchet well.

Penguins get a bunch of prospects and one of the best players in the draft in Newhook who reminds me a lot of Nathan Mackinnon.

Maatta Trade - Olli was an integral part in our cup runs, but he's the odd man out. The Penguins have Petterson now who deserves top 4 minutes and might want to extend Schultz.

Dallas needs a LHD with a long term contract and since Olli is still young he fits the bill

With Brassard and hopefully Sheahan leaving the Pens get one of the better defensive centers in the league in Faksa who is still young and if he asks for too much next year, the Pens have Hallander waiting in the wings.

the penguins typically don't retain salary especially long term. Hags trade was the first time in a long time, and it's only this year.

As far as a Kessel trade. You are talking about a guy who trolled the USA hockey team for not picking him when they lost. Can we say the guy is a bit competitive?
Do you really think he's going to let him self get traded to a team that isn't competitive? I doubt it.

Josh Yohe of the Athletic reported over the summer that his sources said that Kessel was willing to go to ARI because of Tocchet.

another anonymous "source" haven't you learned anything about the media and "sources".

I got a "source" says he isn't. See how that works.
Phil wants to win. He's competitive. He'll never be happy going onto a loser that has no chance of winning. You can keep saying he will it doesn't make it true. This is a dude screaming and cussing on the ice slamming his stick around when they aren't playing well. No way in hell he goes to AZ.

Yup. Because the Pierre Lebrun, Elliotte Friedman, and Bob McKenzies of the world, who make a living having sources, are irrelevant. I don’t think anyone is going to discredit their sources. Sources are an essential part to all journalism, no matter their status.

so is click bait that gets ad money that pays their mortgage. But hey, welcome to the 2010s, I know you are late in figuring that out. But most of us have figured it out.
Just go look at all the "sources" articles that are dead wrong. But hey, someone made some money off of it.

and did they give you a source. Nope.
Matter of fact these same people talking about Kessel is gonna be traded......Pens organization...."we have no desire to trade phil"
Like literally that happened. GMJR had to come out and squash that trash click bait mess. But you over here, "it's all real, I believe it"
Fool born every day.
Hell you probably talking about how good that journalist of the year is, the one caught lying about all his stories and made up sources. Journalism in the modern era. But good luck with believing everything you read on the internet. Clearly that's working out so well for you.

If the Pens would trade Kessel it would not be for a group of maybe-level prospects. If the Pens would trade Kessel it would be for a package that would help the Pens today. They aren't looking for 3 or 4 years from now, they are looking towards today, while Crosby and Malkin are still at/near the top of their game. 2022 will take care of itself in 2022. The Pens are looking at 2019, and a handful of maybe-level prospects aren't going to help anything in 2019, and possibly not help anything in 2022 either.

As to the Maatta/Faska suggestion, not even getting into player value, the Pens aren't going to retain for 3+ years unless the return is considerable. Faska +4th for Maatta is not considerable.
