So where's the actual value? You might Duchene for that offer, not both of them.

It really isnt that far off. Adjust and add some pieces and I can see something like this going through

We all know that Melnyk will consider Shaw as a bad contract because he's a tad overpaid - therefore he's negative value for Sens' point of view. Lindgren makes it neutral value. So it's Tatar, Suzuki, Juulsen and 1st...that's a potential offer for Duchene, sure, maybe OTT even needs to add something to that one... But not Stone.

I agree. Maybe take out Shaw add Lehkonen, and it becomes a lot closer.

Extensions for both. When do they happen mid season? Doesn't really improve the Habs that much long term. Be a lot better to just try and nap one UFA during the summer..

Seriously????

Suzuki, Juulsen and 1rst round draft pick for two player whitout contract at the end of the seasons can't be consider as a good trade for MTL.
And you add Tatar sign for 3 years and shaw sign for 4 years.

Habs will REJECT this trade and not would negotiate with you either.

It’s conditional on signing both to extensions. I love what the habs have done, but we’re still just battling to make the playoffs, not competing with Tampa, TO, Washington, and Pittsburgh. We would be way better off with Stone & Duchene for the next 7 years. If anything, I agree with the guy saying that it’s not enough value to Ottawa... but both will be UFA so they’ll have to trade them or lose them

It’s Tatar and Shaw that don’t really have a long term role. I would sacrifice the other pieces cuz you have to give something up... and you’ll probably lose Mete or Juulsen to expansion draft. If you wait until the summer, you’ll get burned and end up overpaying for Wayne Simmonds. Duchene and Stone are prime-aged and it’s rare that guys like that are available... but Ottawa’s a mess so we gotta take advantage

Shaw’s a pretty good depth player to have and the sens will need bodies, but I’m good with offering more, as long as we don’t touch Kotkaniemi, Domi, Drouin, Gallagher, Weber, Petry, and probably Danault. The only other prospect I wouldn’t want to let go is Poehling.

But if we can get Duchene and Stone long term, it brings us to a whole new level

We just don't see players negotiating with other teams mid seasons. Gee if you think you gotta pay too much during the summer, don't Duchene and Stone know that too? So what's their motivation to limit their signing options to one team when in June they have 31 teams (realistically 10)
Chuckhammer a aimé ceci.

Those player you listed just might be the ones OTT wants... For quality assets, they'd want some quality assets.

I’m looking at the Karlsson, Brassard, and Hoffman trades... it’s a bunch of assets, but nothing like the players I listed.

But I think I agree with Palhal that the extensions aren’t likely, so this whole thing falls apart there. It’s too big a risk for the Canadiens without guaranteeing they can keep those guys long term
