2 things you said there should stand out
1) just because he would be a 2nd line center on your team doesn't mean he loses value ... yes it does affect value. A team isn't gonna pay 1C price for a guy that they'll use for a 2C role. If they do, they're the dumbest franchise in the league.
2) He also has been injured every year... injury concerns and history affect his value. so that drops the price down as well.
It's also not my favourite team so there's no bias from either side on me. It's a value issue. On a good team, Zibanejad is a 2C, not a 1C. The Rangers aren't a good team or a contender so he can play 1C there and get 70 points. But if he was moved to Buffalo, he'd be right back around 50ish points in a lesser role at 2C which is exactly what he is. So I think you're overvaluing your players just a little bit because they're on your favourite team. When it comes to trades, you have to separate value from bias. You can like a guy, but shouldn't overvalue him just cause he's one of your favourite players.
1. He is not nearly my favorite player Mcdonagh was and still is currently.
2. Not overvaluing a player that is one pace for a 70 point season while being 25 and only a 5.3m cap hit.
3. NYR have no intention of trading him hense increasing his value.
4. Refrence McDonagh deal he retained full value even though he was brought in for the 2nd line.
5. Yes loses a little value becasue of injury history.
6. Not bias on the facts of what stastny got, hanzal, antoinne vermett and these are all players on 1 year that had less points and worse underlying stats than ziba and each one fetched a 1st and more. With ziba locked up for 3 years without a doubt the return is much more.
