Panarin is not going to play for Montreal he has already stated he wants to play for NY teams florida, chicago, or La kings, he might be a rental for them but not an extension for sure.

why would we do this when we could trade Tatar for a profit getting rid of his cap and could get 1/2 UFA's during the summer as we dont need a center within a year or two we'll have to move Danault to make room at the current development pace of our prospects in the Timmons development system (2017-present ) . the last 2 drafted especially are ahead of projected development pace especially Primeau and Poehling .

Well, thats a bit why i feel we can use peohling as a trade chip... I feel danaut is a very good third line player but would not bring back a hge return. I am ok with a center line of domi, kk and then danaut. Therefore poehling bcome my chip to get a good left d (murray).

Then, swapping tatar and a 1 st for a sign and trade for panarin seems fair to me. The rest of the pieces can be useful to colombus but are not a big lost to mtl who have too many of these type of player.
Finally, if i tought we could be effective on the ufa market, that would change my approach but last years did not show us much success...

Not the best value but not terrible. The latest ask for Panarin was a roster player(Tatar) a prospect(Poehling) and a 1st (and that’s without an extension). My guess is Columbus doesn’t want an AHL D and a 3rd string goalie for Murray who’s been a solid top 4 D this year. I also think that we’d get a better roster player then a streaky Tatar for Panarin. If you wanted an extension in the deal then the ask would start with Domi or Drouin coming back. Sorry. Not bad but it could be better.

Sorry there is no goalie in the deal. Fleury is a 20 years old 3 rd who has play much above is draft rank and who should be a 4-5 d man or a second round pic if u prefer.mike reiley and charles hudon are not of no value, specially hudon who i still thnk has potential to become a 45-50 guy in the league. I strongly doubt compmbus get their ask for a non signed panarin, but then i get that they would likely keep him as their own rental. The only other option would be to include julsen in the discussion but the deal would need to be reshape. Anyway, this sort of deal is not happening but i think adding murray and panarin with make montreal a very damgerous team
