Oilers are projected to have just under 12 million in cap space next year and that is with 4 RFA, including Puljujärvi, and no goalies under contract. So unless the plan is to either run the same team back year after year or lose their young players, they have to move someone.

Cap is going up by 3-3.5M so that 12M is more like 15M, can send Brodizak to AHL for 1M caproom saved, Khaira, Puljujarvi likely to be the only 2 RFA resigned(and doubtful they make over 3.25M combined at this point). Rieder has been decent but they'll surely look for somebody cheaper.

I agree that some big moves might help the OIlers, its more likely they do smaller moves and free cap space with less of a pricetag then Lucic (Benning, Spooner, Kassian can all be moved to free up another 7M cap)
