why are so many people re-signing Hainsey. He has been awful all year and is one of the slowest players in a league that gets faster every year. I would be shocked if anyone signs him next year.

That is not true at all, we could could re-sign Borgman or Marincin for less than $1 million and both are very capable of playing the PK.

Couldn’t like this post enough... hainsey has been horrible on the pk. Missing assignments and failing to clear.

Also that contract to Rosen is not allowed by cba... 10% pay increase you decreased his pay by nearly 200k...

The leafs actually just extended Rosen to that contract so it's official. I agree, Hainsey has been all around bad this year

I'm surprised as anyone that Rosen agreed to such a low 2 year deal. He could have gone tested the waters as a UFA, in the Leafs hadn't offered a raise to over 1m. I guess he was happy with the deal that pays him 750,000 whether he plays in the NHL or AHL.
I haven't been so critical of Hainsey as others, but agree he won't be Leaf next year...or Gardiner

This is a great deal for the leafs. Looks to me like they are getting loose ends tied up to get their cap settled for next year. Think that Rosen took the deal to make him a viable candidate for the roster. If Borgman wants 1.5m and Rosen takes half that.... guess who’s playing for the leafs and guess who’s being moved....

My bad, I thought you were rxtending him in the off season. QO has to be a 10% increase but signing him before he hits rfa allows them to go lower. This is a great move. Rosen has been killing it this year. Sorry about the one star...?would have gave you 2... signing hainsey may not be a good idea. If he wants to sign for 750k then yes maybe.

One financial power the Leafs have is sign iffy NHLers....Holl and now Rosen to one way deals. Holl may have left the Leafs/Marlies this year and tried to get 800,000 spot on an NHL roster. But other teams likely would have had him making 150,000 in the AHL. So Leafs signed for 642,000 whether he's a NHL or AHLer. And living in Toronto as an AHLer might be more pleasant that some. of those other AHL cities for travel and the reasons.
That's probably Rosen's motivation too. And as suggested maybe Borgman .
