I understand that you are trying to rid yourself of JJ and adding a 1st is a nice try, but the Wings are in rebuild mode and will need cap in 3 years to sign Mantha, Antanisou, Bertuzzi and go out and get quality D-man. In two years the cap could be really screwed due to the CBA ending. We already have two defensemen on horrible contracts, Dekeyser and Ericcson, and one comes of at the end of next season. I do not believe they want to pick up another and wait for that salary to come off the cap.

I also think the Wings want to see what Svechnikov has to offer when healthy.
