The Ryan Reaves trade was possibly some of the worst gming I’ve ever seen. It was a trade that they could not possibly win. Sundqvist has been good and Kostin has tons of potential. That being said, I wish the Blues had a guy like Reaves on the team right now.

Rutherford has lost his edge since that trade. The only “good” moves he’s made since then was: Brassard Trade (He’s a legit 2C and while he hasn’t found his fit in pit yet, he gives them the best centre depth in the league, Sheehan trade (paid Scott Wilson for a decent 4C. Struggling this year but had over 30 points last year, very solid 4C stats, and the Pearson trade (got Pens a long term top 6 LW signed to a reasonable contract)

Look at the left wings on that roster, give me a break.

I would say he lost his edge when Botterill left. He took the job with the Sabres just a month before the Reaves trade, after all.

Because not everything needs to be taken so literally. He developed in the Penguins system, so that was good enough for me. It's a very minor detail that doesn't take away from the point of this post.

How is it a minor detail when your post "literally" describes itself as a team entirely made up of Penguins draft picks?

Think about all the 1st round picks that were traded away under Shero and Rutherford.

Penguins traded 2017 pick to EDM for PERRON and EDM in turn traded that pick to the NYI and they selected BARZAL
Penguins traded 2016 pick to TOR for KESSEL and that pick could have resulted in PGH drafting DEBRINCAT and still having KAPANEN
Penguins traded 2008 pick ATL for HOSSA and the Penguins could have drafted one of either JOSI, SCANDELLA, VOYNOV, HAMONIC or STEPAN

Most people would disagree with your decision to pick Orpik, Moulson, and Pouliot ahead of Johnson for this team, but I think they're all underrated guys who can still make a difference in the right circumstances, and you don't need a third string goalie on that team, as much as a few good role players.
