Description

This deal works for both teams in my estimation. Tierney and Dzingel provide better depth and scoring depth currently than Perreault and Petan. Dzingel is an expiring contract, attractive to Winnepeg, and Tierney is a movable player if they choose after a run this year.

Ottawa gets cost certainty and a good depth player with Perreault, they can stand to lose Tierney when Pageau returns. Petan gets a better opportunity with Ottawa, and they get a draft pick as well. I don't know that they want to re-sign Dzingel for the 5mill/year that he will demand, when Stone/Duchene are coming up as well. This way you get something for him.

Agreed. Doubt Winnipeg trades their first two years in a row, so maybe add a 3rd or something? But yeah, makes complete sense.

Thanks! I agree, can't make it until Pageau is back. The emergence of White really lets you make this trade. I originally had the Jets trading the 1st rounder, but I thought it was a little high. I almost put Niku in there instead of Petan, and threw in a 4th rather than a 2nd. But either way makes sense to me.

This makes a bunch of sense, especially since Wpg seem to undervalue Perrault who's a really solid player. They also need tons of money to re-sign players in the off-season

Value wise it makes a ton of sense. I'd rather trade Pageau than Tierney though, as Tierney is just a slightly better version.
