Interesting proposition but you know that Laine on McDavids wing would be 60-goal scorer constantly lmao. I would say that Draisaitl and Pulju for Laine and Roslovic (who would be 3C in EDM) might be more interesting as Laine has higher roof than Draisaitl and Pulju than Roslovic which helps balance it more and dont lose anything from depth on positions included in trade.

As an Oilers fan, this is tough. Drai has double the points of Laine right now (20 vs 10), with only 1 more game played. And centre depth is everything these days. But Laine has the potential to be by far the better player, and perhaps the next great goal scorer. He's already one of the best shooters in the league. And he's 3 years younger than Drai. If Nuge can prove he can be a solid 2nd line centre and drive a line, I absolutely accept.

I know...it's super interesting when you look at all the angles. I love Laine and as a Jets fan it would kill me to see him score 60+ with McDavid. However, the bar is continually being raised in terms of what salaries will be in play in the summer of 2019. It starts to become a question of....would you rather have Draisatl at 8.5mill for the next 7 years or Laine at 9 mill? 10mill? (Personally, I don't think he's proven hes worth that much yet but if he scores +35 again he has a case). That extra 1-2 million in savings could go a long way to keeping the rest of the young guys who need raises (Connor, etc) here long term.

YES.....finally a hypothetical that doesn't result in trolls spewing vitriol when all that was intended was some sharing of thoughts. Thanks for the feedback

Not to mention that the Jets are extremely deep on the wings (Connor, Wheeler, Ehlers, and Vesalainen), but they could use a more dynamic and faster 2nd line centre if Little can't get it done.

Both say no, or atleast edm says no.
Laine is the better player, but if the Oilers traded Leon, they just created another hole with no depth to fill that hole. the Jets would be fine as they have an embarrassment of riches on wing. Obviously they wouldn't be as good as Laine but they have people that could fill that roll for them.
