In all seriousness, this deal makes zero sense for both teams. But atleast you keep it cool which I admire!

Everyones reasoning on here.

Player A scored 24 goals and 46 assists.

Player B scored 21 goals and 40 assists.

Player A is better than Player B meaning Player B is worth a nickel while Player A is worth a billion dollars.

I am not arguing that Aho is better than Nylander nor am I arguing the other way around. What I am pointing out is that the two players are essentially the same but opinions from fans and the media go to the extreme always and it doesn't make any sense.

In this scenario statistically speaking, Aho and Nylander are pretty comparable, they are both young extremely talented offensive players. I think Aho is better at defending in his own zone and overall is likely more consistent, but Nylander is one of the best players at getting the puck back in the offensive and neutral zones. Fun fact, Sportsnet ranked Laine as the 10th best RW over the past 3 seasons, Nylander 9th, Marner 8th and Aho 7th. So really, Aho and Nylander are very comparable. Lets say they are 1A/1B type of comparable. That is fair and if you disagree you are a fan of Aho and are being emotional and not looking at any real information to come to a conclusion.

For the sake of discussion, what do other fans think of this scenario.

Let's say that TO drafted Aho and he was on the Leafs roster. Let's also say he wanted a contract higher than what TO wanted to pay him. So now they are potentially looking at trading him. Is Pesce for Aho straight up a fair trade? I ask this because its almost unanimous that Carolina fans believe that Nylander is worth less than Pesce. Most seem to think he's about equal to Faulk. Is Aho equal to Pesce? Is he equal to Faulk? Is Aho not the best player on the Hurricane? If so would that not make Nylander the 2nd best player on the hurricanes? Now that we may have arrived at that conclusion, is it at all reasonable to expect a team to trade a player who will be the 2nd best player on your team for players that you yourself would value less than Nylander?

I am fully aware that this response is going to garner a tonne of guys yelling at me that Nylander isn't even close to Aho. To which I say, really?

Prior to this season Aho's points per game percentage was .71. Nylander's was .74 and they played close to the same number of games. Both really good players. Aho scored more goals and Nylander was a better playmaker. So again these players are very close to even and in actual reality, they are definitely comparable players.

So what I challenge Carolina fans to think about it is what would you think Aho's value is when trying to make a trade for Nylander because its essentially the same.

(I am expected a 60% split of comments on this saying I am an idiot for overvaluing Nylander, there is no way he's even close to as good as Aho.)
