He is not in NY future plans. Make the 2019 second round pick a guaranteed first, give a couple of decent prospects and reunite Vladdy with Kuch and Stammer. Now we are a certain four deep line team. Then make changes after this year to open up salary cap space.

We can this year. Cally will end up on the IR again this year which reduces our cap space. You are right next year we can not. There will be several off season moves to open up cap space, there are a few attractive candidates: Vladdy, Killorn, Tyler, Miller or Cally as a salary dump to name a few.

And if you win the cup it would mean that all the Rangers got is a medium-ceiling center prospect (despite being flush with good future center depth) and a likely career AHLer. No dice.

Also, how are you fitting him in with your cap situation?
